Accessibility statement
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website: disabled people, people with learning disabilities or learning difficulties, neurodivergent people, people with chronic illness or limited energy, and anyone who is tired, stressed or reading on a small screen. It should work for everyone without having to switch anything on first. That is why we do not use accessibility overlays or widgets. Accessibility is built into the code and into how we write and edit content.
Standard
This website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, and the European standard EN 301 549.
Status
The website partially meets WCAG 2.2 AA. It has been checked by its makers with automated tools, by keyboard and on mobile devices. A test with people who use assistive technologies is still pending, so some barriers may not be known to us yet.
What we have done
- The website can be used entirely by keyboard. A “Skip to content” link and a clearly visible focus outline help with this.
- Headings, tables and links are marked up so that screen readers can read them correctly.
- Texts in other languages (German, French, Italian) are marked, so screen readers pronounce them correctly.
- Text contrast is at least 4.5:1. Links can be recognised without colour, by an underline or a frame.
- The website works at a width of 320 pixels and with enlarged text, without sideways page scrolling. Only wide tables scroll sideways.
- All content is available without JavaScript.
- Longer texts show an estimated reading time, so you can plan your time and energy.
- Each event has an overview with format, duration, access to the venues and content notices. A printable data sheet (PDF) is offered as an alternative for orientation.
Known limitations
- Some event texts are long and demanding. A short description in plain language is being added for each event.
- The PDF data sheets may not yet be fully accessible.
Testing with people with learning disabilities
We are planning a test of how easy the website is to read and understand, carried out by a test group of people with learning disabilities. The results will be published here.
Report a barrier
